삼성중공업, 2018년 영업(잠정)실적 공시



삼성중공업은 25일(금) 2018년 매출 5조 2,651억원, 영업이익 적자 4,093억원의 실적을 공시하였다. 2018년 매출액은 2016년 전세계 조선시황 악화에 따른 수주실적 급감 영향으로 2017년(7조 9,012억원)에 비해 33%(2조 6,361억원) 감소 하였다고 밝혔다.


그러나 2018년 4분기 매출(1조 3,639억원)이 직전 3분기(1조 3,138억원) 보다 3.8%(501억원) 증가 하는 등 지난 2년간 수주한 건조 물량의 본격적인 매출 인식으로 2019년 매출액은 2018년 대비 약 34% 증가한 7조 1,000억원으로 반등이 전망된다.


2018년 영업이익은 적자 4,093억원으로 2017년(적자 5,242억원) 대비 적자폭이 약 22%(1,149억원) 줄어들었다. 이는 2018년 조업물량 축소에 따른 고정비 부담 일부가 2017년 실적에 반영된 결과라고 밝혔다.


참고로 2018년 영업이익 적자는 실적 전망 공시에서 이미 밝힌 바와 같이, 판매관리비 등 고정비 부담에 따른 영업손실 요인에 더해 △강재 및 기자재 가격 인상 △인력 구조조정에 따른 위로금, 3년치 임금협상 타결에 따른 일시금 등을 실적에 반영한 결과이다.


삼성중공업 관계자는 "시황이 점진적으로 개선되고 있어 2019년부터는 매출액이 증가세로 돌아서는 만큼, 그간 추진해온 원가절감 노력에 더욱 박차를 가해 경영정상화를 반드시 이뤄 낼 것"이라고 강조하였다.


한편, 2018년말 기준 삼성중공업의 순차입금은 약 1.5조원으로 2017년말 기준 순차입금 약 3.1조원에 비해 1.6조원(52%) 감소해 재무구조는 크게 개선됐으며, 보유 드릴십 매각이 완료되면 순차입금은 더 큰 폭의 감소가 예상된다고 밝혔다.

현대삼호중공업, 올 들어 첫 선박 명명식!   




현대삼호중공업(대표이사 사장 이상균)이 2019년 첫 번째 선박 명명식을 개최했다. 지난 18일 회사 2안벽에서 개최된 이번 명명식에는 현대삼호중공업 이상균 사장을 비롯한 선주사인 싱가포르 센텍(SENTEK)社의 사주인 파이켕펭(Mr. Pai Keng Peng)씨 등 관계자 80여 명이 참석했다.


이날 행사에서 이 선박은 선주사 사주 여동생인 ‘파이구아트훈(Ms. Pai Guat Hoon)’ 여사에 의해 ‘퍼시픽 엠(PACIFIC M)'호로 명명됐다.


현대삼호중공업은 지난 2017년 4월 선주사로부터 총 2척의 30만 톤급 원유운반선을 수주했다. 선박 급유업을 주요 사업으로하는 선주사로서는 이번에 처음으로 선박 신조사업에 진출한 것이다. 이들 선박은 길이 330미터, 폭 60미터, 깊이 29.6미터 등 축구장 3개 정도의 규모로  오는 1월과 5월중 인도될 예정이다.


특히, 국제해사기구(IMO)의 환경규제에 대응할 수 있는 황산화물과 질소산화물 등 유해가스를 저감할 수 있는 친환경설비와 해수와의 마찰을 줄여 연료비를 줄일 수 있는 각종 첨단 장치가 장착된다.


현대삼호중공업은 올해 LNG선과 컨테이너선 등 총 35척의 선박을 인도해 매출 3조 4천억 원과 수주 44억 불을 달성할 계획이다.


현대삼호중공업의 한 관계자는 “어려운 경영환경이 이어지고 있지만 지난해 보다 매출이 30% 가량 늘어나 지역 경제에도 훈풍이 예상된다”고 밝혔다.

현대중공업그룹, 원유운반선 2척, 1550억불 수주



현대중공업그룹이 새해 첫 수주에 성공하며 올해 수주 회복세를 이어가고 있다.  현대중공업그룹은 최근(16일) 유럽지역 선사로부터 1550억원 규모의 15만 8천톤급 원유운반선 2척을 수주했다고 밝혔다. 


이번에 수주한 선박은 길이 274m, 폭 48m로, 영암 현대삼호중공업에서 건조돼 2020년 하반기부터 순차적으로 인도될 계획이다. 


현대중공업그룹은 올해 조선부문 수주목표를 지난해 대비 21% 높은 159억불로 잡았다. 이는 지난 2014년 이후 가장 높은 수치로 본격적으로 회복세에 접어든 시황을 적극 반영해 수립한 계획이다. 


실제 영국 조선·해운 분석기관인 클락슨(Clarkson)은 올해 글로벌 발주량을 지난해(2,859만 CGT) 대비 20% 이상 상승한 3,440만 CGT로 전망했다. 글로벌 발주량은 향후 지속적으로 회복세를 유지해 2023년에는 4,740만 CGT에 이를 것으로 기대된다. 


현대중공업그룹 관계자는 “새해부터 선주들의 발주문의가 이어지고 있다”며, “조선 시황이 본격적인 회복세에 접어든 만큼 올해 수주목표 달성을 위해 수주에 역량을 집중할 것”이라고 밝혔다. 


한편 현대중공업그룹은 지난해 총 163척, 140억불을 수주하며 목표인 132억불을 초과달성하는 등 조선업 회복을 주도하고 있다.

SURVITEC RECEIVES DNV GL CERTIFICATION FOR GLOBAL SAFETY INSPECTIONS

 

Survitec has received DNV GL Z-17 certification as a class-approved service provider for all DNV-GL classed vessels operating various brands of safety and survival equipment, including lifeboats, liferafts, marine evacuation systems (MES) and fire-fighting equipment and breathing apparatus.

“The certification means that all Survitec sites carrying out work on lifeboats, fire-fighting equipment, SCBA and LSA to ships and mobile offshore units (MOU) to SOLAS standards are included in the Z-17 approval,” said Mats Hestmann, Group Quality, Health and Safety Manager, Survitec.

“Survitec is also approved to carry out class-approved annual inspections services, making it much easier for shipowners and managers to ensure their safety and survival systems are certified, compliant and, above all, safe, saving time and money. We now offer customers a true one-stop-shop for all their ship fire-fighting and survival products.”

The servicing/inspection of onboard safety equipment is often carried out by shore-based companies, with classification societies using service companies’ reports and recommendations on which to base their certification and documentation, such as a vessel’s Safety Equipment Certificate. 

In order to carry out work on other manufacturers’ products, particularly lifeboats, MES, fire-fighting equipment, including BA, the service provider has to meet a series of stringent procedural and training requirements, as set by an IACS member classification society.

Through three fully-owned training centres, Survitec trains its teams to provide inspection and maintenance services across multiple brands in order to meet ship/fleet managers’ safety requirements. Survitec is confident that ship and fleet managers will take advantage of our global approval and anticipates an increase in inspection and maintenance services.

Paul Watkins, Regulatory and Compliance Manager, Survitec, said: “We have had global approval for most of our service stations for a number of years, but some legacy Survitec sites and those stations brought under the Survitec umbrella following acquisition previously had local certification. Now we have the global Z-17 Approval, we able to carry out inspection, maintenance and repair work onboard all DNV GL-classed vessels worldwide.

“While it is the crew’s responsibility to service and maintain their vessels’ lifesaving equipment, verified by an authorised service supplier, annual and five-year inspection and testing of this equipment must be carried out by an authorised service supplier.”

DNV GL, the world’s largest classification society providing services to more than 13,000 vessels and mobile offshore units, carried out a number of Z-17 audits at several Survitec service sites, following which approval was granted in early January 2019.

“Special thanks go to the lifeboat team in Aberdeen for making this possible,” said Watkins. “Their commitment and dedication to maritime safety has helped open up new possibilities for Survitec, offering approved services to all DNV GL-classed ships in all our service areas.”

All Survitec sites carrying out service work on lifeboats, fire-fighting equipment, SCBA and LSA to ships and mobile offshore units (MOU) to SOLAS requirements, are included in the Z-17 approval.

A key benefit for Survitec customers is that its SOLAS 360 service concept can be offered across all the company’s service stations, improving capacity and capability.

“We are now able to more comprehensively meet our customers’ requirements, based on our service capabilities to deliver a more competitive playing field at the port,” added Hestmann. “We are bringing the full Survitec potential to bear.”

Wärtsilä ship design chosen for state-of-the-art fishing vessel


The technology group Wärtsilä will provide the ship design, as well as the main engine and other propulsion equipment, for a new state-of-the-art fishing vessel. The ship will be built at the Balenciaga shipyard in Spain for Castlehill, the Fraserburgh, Scotland based owners. The order with Wärtsilä was booked in November 2018.


The 69.8 metres long ‘Resolute’ will replace an existing trawler of the same name in the owner’s fleet. When delivered in 2020, this innovative vessel will provide high efficiency, and will represent the latest in ship designs for fishing industry purposes. It will operate in the fishing grounds of the North Sea.


“We have earlier worked closely with both Castlehill and the Balenciaga yard, and we are pleased to be cooperating with them again on this benchmark project. Wärtsilä’s Smart Marine vision supports the development of efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions, and this ship will certainly meet those criteria,” says Riku-Pekka Hägg, Director, Ship Design, Wärtsilä Marine.


“Wärtsilä has tremendous experience and an excellent track record in producing advanced fishing vessel designs, and we are confident that this latest design will meet our expectations. We also appreciate Wärtsilä’s positive cooperation during the concept development phase of this project,” says Georg West, owner.


In addition to the ship design and relevant documentation, Wärtsilä will also supply a Wärtsilä 32 main engine, as well as the gear, shaft line, stern tube and combined pitch propeller (CPP). Under a separate agreement, the company will also develop a concept that can be used for the owner’s application for an extended fishing quota.

솔베르그 노르웨이 대사, 현대중공업 방문



프로데 솔베르그(Frode Solberg) 노르웨이 주한 대사가 조선·해양플랜트 분야에서 협력을 강화하기 위해 현대중공업을 방문했다. 


솔베르그 대사는 일행은 지난 16일(수) 오후 현대중공업 울산 본사를 찾아 한영석 현대중공업 사장, 박준성 해양 사업대표 등 경영진과 환담을 나눴다. 


이날 솔베르그 대사는 노르웨이 해역의 유전 개발과 원유·가스운반선 사업 등에서 노르웨이 정부 및 기업들과 오랜 파트너 관계를 유지하고 있는 현대중공업에 큰 관심을 나타내며, 양국의 산업 발전을 위해 지속적인 협력을 당부했다. 


노르웨이는 지난 2017년 전 세계 발주량(681억 달러/1천127척)의 7.6%인 50억 달러(62척)의 선박을 발주한 세계 5위 국가(선박 발주 기준)다. 


현대중공업은 지난 1979년부터 지금까지 27개 노르웨이 선사로부터 총 106척의 선박을 수주해 100척을 성공적으로 인도했으며, 현재는 셔틀탱커 2척과 LNG운반선 3척, LPG운반선 1척 등 6척을 건조 중에 있다. 


또 노르웨이 국영석유회사인 에퀴노르(Equinor)사의 ‘아스타 한스틴(Aasta Hansteen) 원통형 해상가스생산설비’ 등 지금까지 100억 달러 상당의 해양플랜트 공사를 수주한 바 있다. 


현대중공업 한영석 사장은 “창사 이래 쌓아온 두터운 신뢰를 바탕으로 앞으로도 조선·해양 분야의 지속적인 협력을 기대한다”며, “에너지산업분야에서도 기술 제휴를 활발히 해나갈 것”이라고 말했다.

Polish Szczecin is top bulk terminal in new BIMCO report

The best performing port, in BIMCO’s Dry Bulk Terminals Vetting Report 2018, is Szczecin in Poland. The report collected input from 144 ships covering 381 terminals. A total of 97% of the reports were rated as average or better, which gave an average rating of 3.6 (out of five). The result is a marginal better than last year’s results.



“I think, in many ways, the report shows an encouraging trend, that bulk terminals generally perform well - only four reports were rated as “poor”, says Aron Sorensen, Head of Maritime Technology and Regulation at BIMCO.


The reports show that good communication between ship and terminal is a crucial part of port performance and is factor acknowledged in written responses by captains.


The number of reports contributed to BIMCO rose by 52% to 916 in total, increasing the number of ports covered by 102. Albeit, the reports originate from a small number of companies, which partly explains a somewhat skewed geographical spread of the report.


“I think this information is valuable to both the shipowners and the ports, but we are still far from satisfied with the number of reports submitted to us for this initiative,” Sorensen says.


Ideally, BIMCO would like to have 1000 ships participating in the survey.

The report indicates improved communication between the terminals and the ships, but adequate language skills remain a problem in some locations.


The survey also looked into waste handling, and the number of ships experiencing a terminal’s refusal to collect garbage or exorbitant prices to do so, is still too high, according to the report.


“We need terminals and ports to live up to their responsibility and receive waste at a reasonable price,” Sorensen says.


Another point of concern was that the setting of gangways was impossible in 11% of all cases, thereby restricting the access to and from the ship. This is clearly unacceptable and must be addressed as a safety matter.

Sunseeker International and Rolls-Royce to present first production yacht with MTU hybrid power in 2020



British luxury yacht manufacturer Sunseeker International and Rolls-Royce have agreed to present the first yacht fitted with an MTU series production hybrid propulsion system in 2020. At Boot Düsseldorf from 19 until 27 January Sunseeker and MTU will present the new hybrid propulsion system in hall 6 at booth B61.


Sean Robertson, Sales Director at Sunseeker International commented: “Sunseeker has always led the industry by innovating and being first to market so it is entirely appropriate that we are the first luxury performance yacht manufacturer to partner with MTU Hybrid Power which will revolutionise how all customers power their boats over the coming years. Completely integrated hybrid propulsion system fitted with MTU Series 2000 engines

The new Sunseeker yacht will have an integrated MTU hybrid propulsion system. It will consist of two 12-cylinder MTU Series 2000 diesel engines (each delivering around 1,432 kW/ 1,947 hp), on-board generators, electric propulsion modules, transmission system, batteries, control and monitoring systems and can be expanded on a modular basis.


The yacht will be provided with six different operating modes that are easy to operate, including the automated “smart hybrid” and “charge hybrid” modes, which enable all power sources to be used as required. In an “electric mode” the yacht propulsion and on-board power can be supplied continuously by the generators, providing optimisation of fuel consumption and comfort on-board for long and overnight passages. In “silent mode”, which uses power solely from the batteries, up to 40 minutes of propulsion and 120 minutes of on-board power are available with each pair of MTU batteries installed, with no emissions produced whatsoever.


Successful collaboration going back more than 18 years 

Sunseeker and MTU UK have had a successful working relationship for more than 18 years, with over 1.8 million hp of MTU power installed in yachts with lengths of between 20 and 47 metres. As early as 2010, the two companies laid the basis for the hybrid propulsion system in tests that were carried out on a prototype yacht.
